With Japan Reference, why it was So Great!-
1965 Puget Sound (USA) Earthquake 1965 4/29 15:28 UTC 47.31N 122.33W 66km Mb=6.5, Puget Sound, WA, USA http://www.iris.edu/seismo/quakes/1965puget_sound/
It was a Bright Sunshiny Day in the Morning in the Spring of 1965.
I and my brother were standing outside in the Morning Sun talking.
Then the most amazing thing proceeded to start happening.
About One foot or about 30 centimeters High Waves Started Coming Through the Ground, the same as those that come across the top of the water when one tosses a rock on a pond or the same as those that come across the water when a speedboat goes across a Calm Lake or a Calm Ocean.
They consisted of the ground flying completely apart on the high part of each wave, where one could see right down into the soil and see each individual particle of dirt and all the rocks and the individual grass roots in the bright sunshine, then flying back together again completely in the low or the bottom part of each wave, like nothing had happened.
This action made it easy to see even the earthworms in the ground in the bright sunlight.
As the waves coming through the ground were about one foot high, -To stand upright in this mess of waves we had to lift each foot up on the high part of each wave and put it down on the low part of each wave. -One foot up while the other foot was down in unison with the waves, while the waves came through the ground, in order to stand upright.
After these waves stopped coming through the ground, it returned to the same solid condition as it had been in before.
A most amazing thing to see. All Architectural Engineers and Achitectects, and maybe even all Civil Engineers should be required to Experience this sort of thing - first hand, before they receive their degree.
Much safer construction would result.
The earthquake that produced these waves was the same one referred to above. At the time, news reports placed it at about 10 to 15 miles under the earth under a part of Puget Sound called Hood Canal - about the same depth as the earthquake that occurred off of Japan.
The above information places it under Seattle at about 41 miles depth, however.
The location of my observation was at about 48.282351North, -121.733556 West, in the Stillaguamish River Valley, according to what is left of the Geocommunicator at www.geocommunicator.gov. See my note in my article on recreational gold mining, to find out more of what this with the Geocommunicator is all about.
Driving distance from Seattle is about 90 miles.
After experiencing this amazing thing, I have great reservations about how buildings and other constructed creations are made.
That earthquake was only of 6.5 magnitude, and gave about one foot high waves in the earth. If it were of 7.5 magnitude, they would have had to be of 10 Foot height at the distance I was from the epicenter.
If it were of magnitude 8.9 as the recent 3/11/2011 quake offshore of Japan was, the waves I experienced would have been of over 100 foot height! -And everything where I was would have been destroyed. There is no way I could have ridden out a 8.9 quake where I was. -With over a 100 foot initial hit, as fast as those waves came, I, all the cars, houses, and trees would have been thrown over 100 feet in the air! -Quite Instantly! -Doubt if Fibre-Optic Internet cable service would survive that. -Let alone water, gas, and power.
-And news stories suggest that the Pacific Northwest is in store for a 9 or 10 magnitude quake!? --Equivalent to a 1,000 foot high wave where I was standing -if it would be magnitude 9.5! No wonder that Japan quake formed a rift 93 Miles Wide and 186 miles long in the ocean off of Japan at magnitude 8.9!
I would say that those in the Pacific Northwest better find money to Greatly Prepare for a Quake Disaster Much Worse Than That Which Happened in Japan.
I would suggest that they better get to work with my "Health To Our Country " proposal soon, to get the money to prepare for their Safety and that Earthquake forecast to be due anytime. -Just Common Sense - No Religious Prophecy! Use Some "TRACK" common sense - for Safety's Sake! Think, Recognize, Assess, Control - as much as possible, and Keep Safety First at All Times!
Much stronger Earthquake Preparation Measures need be taken than Japan had in place, before their earthquake occurred!
And Japan needs to contend itself with rebuilding those Tsunami Walls they had in place to prevent a Tsunami from the Pacific Northwest, This time stronger, rather than worrying about the little problem of Radiation from that Tsunami Crippled Reactor complex. Yes, build it up (the Reactor) - but Build it Stronger, and using suspended back up generators on top of the buildings, to withstand new quakes.
A new Tsunami could occurr at any time. This time from the Pacific Northwest, coming accross the Pacific Ocean to See Them. Yes, they need to clean up the Damage, but they also need to look out for worse damage from the Pacific Northwest. -Not any Prophecy - Just common Sense Fact.
There is a good Reason For all those Old Growth 12 or More Foot Diameter Trees on the Pacific Coast of Washington being dead and down, that have had Old Growth Timber Logged off of the top of them by Rayonier and other logging companies. See what is under the new growth timber on the Quinault Indian Reservation, for example. The remains of those Dead Old growth trees that weren't good enough to pull in for use for sale by the old logging companies should still be there. You can bet it was a good Tsunami that took them down. A backlash Tsunami, -Like that which just got through occurring in Japan.
Now that is just for the Pacific Northwest. Japan has been having constant pressure release earthquakes most all the time.
What can one expect of what the pressure buildups might be in other areas on earth that have not been experiencing pressure relief earthquakes?
Let's take the consideration to the Gulf Of Mexico, where that supposedly big disasterous oil spill from the Oil Well was. That pressure relief from the oil well was disaster, but that means there is great pressure down there.
What if there were to be an earthquake that would fracture accross that whole sedimentary rock layered area releasing all that pent up oil pressure at once. What kind of an oil spill would there then be? You say it couldn't happen? If it couldn't, then please explain what has cracked and faulted all of the current nice and well layered rock areas already in the past on this earth.
What magnitude Quake could possibly occurr in all those places that have shown no free fault movement to release pressure. - Could it be greater than the almost 9.0 that occurred just off Japan, where pressure is constantly releasing? -Something to think about.
Maybe, just maybe, we should be using "TRACK", carefully and constantly drilling those possibly "Pent-Up" pressure areas, to remove that "Pressure Safely" to prevent any much worse oil spills, -this time from "Natural Causes", like Earthquakes - from long collected pressure buildup? -On The Rest Of Those Areas Under The SEAFLOOR! Then the danger from unexpected earthquakes in these areas would be considerably reduced. Naturally occurring suprise spills would not occurr.
Think "TRACK" for the Safety of All Countries! -Try to Reduce the possible pressure! This would prevent much Death and Destruction! -Just Good Common Sense!
Try to Prevent Problems or Hazards! Safety First! Use "TRACK"!
"TRACK" --Think through the possible Problem or Task, --Recognize the Hazards, --Assess the Risks, --Control the Hazards, --Keep Safety First in all Tasks or Possible Problems!
